The Drug Testing Consortium Labs that your company will be assigned to will test for five substances required under DOT Regulations. These Drug Testing Consortium Labs have processed millions of tests throughout the years and successfully withstood legal challenges to their test results.

Dr Sheldon Lipshutz, our MRO, is a nationally recognized Medical Drug Testing Consortium Review Officer. He is a member of the AMA, CMA, ASAS, ACA, LACMA, APF, to name just a few. He is certified by American Drug Testing Consortium Board of Surgeons, Diplomat of the International College of Surgeons, and has held numerous positions at hospitals throughout Los Angeles.

Drug Testing ProgramsNew Era Drug Testing offers result reporting via online, fax, or phone response. Our programs also offer great turnaround times, typically 24 to 48 hours for reporting of results from time of collection. New Era also offers Medical Review Officer (MRO) services, random drug testing administration, and sample policy and procedures to begin your drug testing program.

Program One: Off-Site Urine Drug TestingProgram One is a urine drug screen that can test for 5, 9, or 10 panels (drugs). Regardless of the number of drugs you want tested, the price remains the same. Included in the test is collection using our patient service centers, legal confirmation at our certified labs, and chain of custody forms. An adulterants check, which tests for substances people ingest to mask the presence of drugs in their system, is also included at no additional charge. Program One (5-panel) can be used for Department of Transportation testing with the addition of our MRO Service on all of your results.Program Two: Drug and Alcohol TestingProgram Two is a Urine Drug Screen with the same panel selection as Program One plus the addition of Alcohol testing on the sample. The additional Alcohol panel is ideal for post-accident, reasonable suspicion and post offer hiring situations.

Program Three: Hair Drug TestingProgram Three is Hair Testing by Psyche medics, which offers the first internationally patented technology to analyze hair follicles for drugs of abuse. This program tests for 5 drugs (panels) in the hair sample, including Ecstasy. Hair samples, which provide a drug history over a 90-day period, may be collected on-site or by various collection sites. This program also includes legal confirmation of the samples, chain of custody forms and courier service. The hair test cannot be evaded; drug residues remain permanently entrapped in the hair and cannot be washed or bleached out thus providing a non-intrusive and cost effective form of drug testing. Negative results have a 24-hour turnaround time, positive results are reported within 48-72 hours, and results are reported online through New Era Drug Testing Consortium’s secure website.

Medical Review Officer (MRO) Service New Era Drug Testing also offers an MRO service for clinical interpretation of results by a licensed M.D. who is also educated about drugs of abuse. The MRO service can be added to any of the programs and you can have MRO reviews conducted on only positive results or all of your results whether positive or negative. Our MRO will contact the donor to discuss pertinent information regarding his or her drug test result in order to rule out a possible positive which may have been caused by a prescription medication. Once the MRO can confirm that a legitimate prescription is held by the donor a result can be overturned and reported by the MRO to (N.E.D.T) and then the employer. If no evidence is presented to the MRO to prove the result may have been caused by another substance other than an illegal drug, the MRO will report the result as a positive. MRO offers a 72 hours window for the donor to respond with evidence before they report the result as is.

Medical Drugs question by krisy: Patent Laws For Medical Drugs-Should They Be Relaxed?
Many arguments have been made in favor of easing international patent laws for medical drugs. It is said that this will help poor countries manufacture affordable medical drugs. This will also help countries such as India build an entirely new export industry.

Should patent laws be relaxed for either or for both these reasons?

Heavens NO!

We have these magnificent medications because companies spent MILLIONS in research…..expecting to recoup that in sales.

Take away the profit incentive, and you will DISCOURAGE research and development.

    wow. just, wow.

  2. Zadi Diaz says:

Amazing how putting all of that craziness into the human body is completely legal and okay. Wow.

  3. Dan Schonhaar says:

There is no freakin way that many meds will do you any good. he could litterally fill up a cereal bowl and have his medication as a meal!

  4. stevegarfield says:

Nice shot. Of course medical marijuana should be legal in the whole US at the Federal level. In fact, marijuana should be legal. Let’s concentrate on fighting real crime and not recreational drug users.

  5. jdavey says:

I take it that KK drinks more than the recommended 8 glasses of water per day!

  6. swede201 says:

    maybe there’s another answer..

  7. missbhavens says:

There’s no way anyone would have a shot at a normal life taking all those meds. Just no way. Once you start having to take pills to alleviate the symptoms of other pills you’ve ventured into scary territory.

Someone please get this man some legal weed ASAP.

  8. thehoneybunny says:

    that’s out of control.

  9. sheldonschwartz says:

swede201- that TED link is cool. I’d rather sit with my own personal MRI and watch my brain connections than take this table of pills.

  10. Daily Piglet says:

@ zadi, as you know as long as someone’s pockets are getting fat with cash, and gov’t has a piece, it’s legal right?

i feel very sorry for this man.

  11. Chuckumentary says:

Thanks for the comments y’all. KK took this photo himself. He is (well, is/was) a professional photographer.

It was really eye-opening to interview him. He would often lose his train of thought mid-sentence and say "sorry man, my head is like swiss cheese on all these meds."

Medical marijuana alleviated a bunch of side effects from these meds and actually allowed him to stop taking a couple of them, so he could sleep more than an hour at a time and not get sick.

Also, he didn’t talk much about this on camera, but when he had access to MJ his relationship with his wife was more functional and he was more himself. Without it… well, they are separated now and he has a lonely life.

That’s why he’s speaking out strongly in favor of medical marijuana, which is coming before the Minnesota House and Gov. Pawlenty has threatened to veto.

KK is a registered Republican and a born-again Christian who voted for Gov Pawlenty, but says "this is not a political issue. It’s a pain issue."

  12. juliaschrenkler says:

Chuck, this is a powerful image. Combined with Forss’ quote, well, wow.

  13. act10ng1rl says:

  14. lindamccraven says:

iam so sorry. i have a lot of pain also and can’t really take anything.

  15. S.E.D. says:

    Legalize it!!! (period)

  16. bkkk1962 says:

My son tells me that I have every ailment and disease known to man just because I’m on 16 different meds. Can’t wait til I can tell him KK’s story! Normally I’m not for legalizing street drugs but if this man really takes all those meds every day then something does need to be done!

  17. lolife says:

    can i get his #?

  18. act10ng1rl says:

how can we help him? is there a way that people around the country can help/petition on his behalf? this image is so powerful that I believe people around the country would surely lend a helping hand.

  19. urbanshutterbug says:

wow!!!! i FEEL for him and pray that there is some other option quick!

  20. Chuckumentary says:

act10ng1rl – that’s a stellar thought! I’m sure he could use $$ if nothing else, he would also like people to help get this bill passed. He also has a photography book… I’m going to see if it’s available online.

  21. zimmuh says:

I have been going through hell on three meds, totally hooked on BZD’s and anti-depressants, prior to getting sucked into this I had been clean and sober since 1984…I have great empathy for KK
